J&G ART

The J&G Art project got under way in 2000, when
Alessandro Zodo decided to build on his thirty years of
experience in the art world by teaming up with his son
Jerome to open the J&G Art Gallery in Milan.
Alessandro Zodo, a graphic designer working in advertising, first ventured
into the world of art in the seventies: originally responsible for a print
shop in via Padova, he then became an art dealer.
In those days, Milan was still experiencing the heyday of Brera and the
Bar Jamaica, the last fertile period of the artistic ferment that had originated in the sixties.
His line of work brought Alessandro into contact with such artists as
De Chirico, Dova, Scanavino, Baj and Guttuso and persuaded him to leave
the print shop, etchings, reproductions and serigraphy to devote his
attentions to the works of the great masters of the twentieth century.
During the eighties, Alessandro decided to shift his focus to the
American market. When the AZ Gallery opened in New York, in the
building of the Giorgio de Chirico Foundation, then chaired by Claudio
Bruni, he came into contact with the leading players on the cultural scene in the Big Apple.
Even so, he did not abandon his foothold in Italy. At the same time as
he was launching operations in the States, he also opened a space in Milan
central via Bigli: the artists that he represented were the same he offered
in New York: de Chirico, Fontana, Chagall Picasso and many others.
